I thought I'd pass on a tip that Siobhan gave Connie last week.
This is for all those who want to make their own costumes and are looking for glittery trim items.
Connie went to http://www.angeltrim.comand went wild last Monday. It's an American site but they were offering free postage (including airmail to the UK) on purchases over $100 (approx £50 at current exchange rates). She bought a whole shed load of stuff that she hadn't been able to find on UK sites or in craft shops (the Americans are MUCH more into home sewing than the Brits). Prices are good, if you could find the same items in the UK they'd probably be the same price in pounds as they're being sold for here in dollars.
It's on it's way here now and I'll try to remember to post a report when it arrives but Siobhan swears by them.
That is good to know i will have a look into it. Was planning on exploring shops for things to decorate costumes with this weekend so very well timed advice!
Siobhan also told Connie about a shop in Goldthorpe (west of Doncaster) that sells all kinds of fabric and stuff at good prices. I'm going to try and organise an expedition there (I'll sit in the car and read my book) and then report back.

Hi again! Just to say that I can endorse the products from Eric at Angel Trim that Connie has now discovered! I use them alot and if anyone has an order that they would like to add to any of mine to make up the free postage let me know I would be happy to oblige. x
OOOPS! I forgot to report back on that shop in Goldthorpe,
Walton's Fabrics. 47-49 Doncaster Road, Goldthorpe, South Yorkshire. S63 9HJ Tel: 01709 897066.
Opening hours: Mon, 9.30am tp 9pm
Tues, 9.30am to 5.30pm Weds, 9.30am to 2.30pm
Thurs, 9.30am to 9pm Fri, 9.30am to 5pm
Sat, 9.30am to 4pm.
A smallish looking shop in a grotty part of town. Inside it's like the TARDIS with more fabric than the average giant warehouse. Loads of bolt ends and discontinued items to trip over mixed in with top of the line fabrics including shiny lycra and other stuff suitable for belly dancers. WARNING! allow yourself plenty of time, the owner (a nice chap) can talk the hind legs of a whole herd of donkeys!
re waltons fabrics they also stand at doncaster market but me being me cant remember what day it is I bought cloth from them for galebeyas (long dresses the men wear in egypt) they are very reasonable and the cloth is good quality, saves you trailing up to gloldthorpe I think if you ask they will bring what cloth you want the following week as well, there are some decent fabric stalls on the market for you sewing fanatics.
Thanks for that Maramia. If you find out what day they're at Donny market let us know. I can confirm that they do "requests" because I remember the gentleman talking about special orders to be packed for the market when I was standing around in his shop waiting (and waiting ... and waiting) for Connie and Siobhan to make their choices.
