Was just wanting to pick peoples brains for what makes a good starting point for supportive tops?
(the thought of wearing some of the skimpier pieces of string and shimming just doesn't appeal for some reason )
At the moment i am exploring adapting bras and bikini tops and jazzing them up a bit but i wondered if anyone else had any good ideas? Also point me in the direction of good places for ideas for jazzing them up. Will be checking out the american site discussed in the other thread
hi I am juts in the process of making a bra type top, using an old bikini top it has slight pad and is quite thick. I have covered it with an old gold stretch top with a sash tie that was actually attached to the original top. I am going to cover the straps with a gold trimming that I got from dunelm mill for around 79p per metre. I amy add gold beads around the edge too.
I am trying to think of other ideas for a shrug type top too.
good luck with yours xx
If you are making or adapting a bra top it is usually a good idea toreplace the straps rather than cover them. A normal bra or bikini strap will not hold up or support you when it is covered with extra fabric or sequins or beads or other sparkling scrumptiousness Depending on how much support you need adding a halter neck in gross grain ribbon adds security for a small lady and a cross over back, again in gross grain fabric for a larger lady. It's quite simple to do and seriously when you are shoulder shimmying away you will feel so much more secure! _________________ Be Afraid.......
Pauline is an expert, you should have seen the Tribal bra she wore at the Banat El-Raqs hafla on 10th May!! All made by herself and with more bling than a New York pimp!
Never mind chest sizes, with all those coins and chains stitched on the support straps HAD to be good!
There will be some photos on the LBD website by the end of this week.
